Guwahati: Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has predicted the results for the 25 Lok sabha seats in northeast, Sarma has claimed the party will win at least 22 seats along with allies in Northeast India. He said that Prime minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Assam is not linked to polls and he keeps on coming to Northeast India.

Prime minister Narendra Modi will come on a two-day visit to Assam and Arunachal Pradesh. In Assam Prime minister will lay the foundation stone or inaugurated a project worth Rs 18,000 Crore in Assam.

Northeast India accounts for 25 Lok Sabha seats. Sarma on Thursday said the BJP-led NDA will win at least 22 out of total 25 seats in the northeast. He said, “We will win at least 22 seats. It may go up to 23 as well. In Assam, we will win 11 or 12 seats. The BJP is set to get 370 seats in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls. When I visit the rural areas, nobody is talking about the elections. Everybody is talking about the development. I am also busy with developmental works and everyday new projects are being launched at different corners of Assam,” he said.

Sarma claimed that the winning margin for BJP candidates in Assam will be huge this time. He said, “Earlier, candidates used to win Lok Sabha seats by 25,000 votes but this time it will go past two or three lakh votes.”

He added he has been looking at the election as an opportunity for the people of Assam to shower their blessings on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the development work of the state to continue at a more rapid pace in the coming years. He also mentioned that PM Modi will launch several projects in his upcoming schedule to the state. The Prime Minister will unveil the 84-feet long statue of 16th century Ahom general Lachit Borphukan. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of several development projects for Assam, including the Rs 3,992 crores project of pipeline from Barauni to Guwahati on Saturday as part of his two-day visit to the state.

Sarma said that the PM will arrive in the state on Friday evening and is scheduled to spend at least two hours in the Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve. “Tomorrow, at 4 pm PM Modi will arrive at Tezpur airport and will directly go to Kaziranga. On March 9, at around 5:30 am, he will visit Kaziranga National Park and will spend 2 hours there. He will go to Arunachal Pradesh from Kaziranga. After attending two programmes in Arunachal Pradesh, he will again visit Jorhat at around 1:30 pm.”

The Assam CM further said that Modi will inaugurate the Tinsukia Medical College and lay the foundation stone of Sivasagar Medical College under the PM-DIVINE scheme on Saturday.

“PM Modi will lay the foundation stone for the expansion of Digboi Refinery from 0.65 million MT to 1 million MT with a cost of Rs 768 crores. PM Modi will also lay the foundation stone of the expansion of Guwahati Refinery from 1 million MT to 1.2 million MT with a cost of Rs 510 crore.
